Board Game / 2 Players / Inspired by

‘Guess Who’

The data economy is all about categorizing behavior and stereotyping people. To understand and predict their behavior best. This game shows how (meta) data is combined to create a profile for a person. Every profile is a combination of three characterizing descriptions about a person. The players both blindly pick a profile from the deck, and in turns, they ask questions about behavior to find out which ‘kind of person’ the other player got.

This game consists of 24 ‘fictional’ characters who function as examples how (meta) data can be used and combined to create these profiles. These 24 characters occur in several elements of The Attention Fair.

The Attention Fair is the result of 15 months

research into the (future) of ownership rights

of personal data. An experimental game installation, consisting of 12 games, visuals and experiments each visualizing a part of this research. This project is about sharing knowledge about the current data economy, creating awareness on the problematic situation we as ‘producers of data’ are currently in, and exploring the possibilities how to become the owner of our data.
